The Mathematical Reverse Formula

Why adding 2.9% to your invoice causes a shortage

A common mistake freelancers and agencies make is simply adding 2.9% to their desired price. If you want $100 and add 2.9% + $0.30 ($103.20), Stripe takes 2.9% of the new higher total ($103.20) plus $0.30, deducting $3.29 and leaving you with only $99.91!

Gross Invoice = (Desired Net + $0.30) / (1 - 0.029) = (Desired Net + 0.30) / 0.971

Our tool applies this formula with full floating-point rounding accuracy to ensure your net deposit matches your requested number down to the exact penny.
